Updated 1/8/2011

Flickr is a very popular photo hosting service. It has both free and pay accounts. The free accounts allow you to post up to 300mb of photos per month. A pro account is available for $24.95 per year and allows you unlimited uploads and also allows you to host video. Flickr allows you to mark your images with keywords that allow others with similar interests to find your images. You can also order prints from Flickr

Flickr has several ways to upload images including a application for both Mac and PC users. A nice feature of Flickr is that you can upload any size image and it can be resized to fit in the OGR forum automatically.

For information about Flickr please see their FAQ. Please see Flickr's site for directions about how to upload

Posting to the OGR Forum

I am going to make the assumption that you have already uploaded your photos to Flickr, and are trying to post them to OGR.

Starting from your Flickr album page select the image you want to share

flickr1

Select the "Share This" button below the title bar

flickr3

Select "Grab the HTML/BBBCode".

flick4

Select the "HTML" radio button

flickr6

And choose the size you want to display. I use Medium 500 or 640

Now select and copy all the code that is displayed. Some of it may be outside the display window so I suggest using the "Select Al command (ctrl+a (Win) or CMD+A (Mac)) to get it all.

If you are only posting one image you can head back to the forum and post. Or if you want to add several images to a posting you may want to paste these addresses into a text file so you do not have to jump back and forth between sites.

An advantage of the new Flickr setup you can post multiple images all at once. If you are posting two or more images to the forum, paste the links all into one document and copy them

Once you find (or start) a thread were you want to add an photo click on the "Reply" button

Paste the link for your photo(s) into the reply window BIG CHANGE, you no longer need to use the IMAGE button on the toolbar, paste the link directly into the message body

You should get some text that looks the picture below in the reply window. You can also add text to the reply, but do not add anything other text between the <a href.> </a> tags.

When you are done click on the "Post Now" button

If you did everything correctly you will see your image. If not check the above steps again. You may want to go back to get the URL for your images and try pasting it in again. The most common problem is not selecting all the text displayed in the code box on Flickr

Congratulations you are done!
