Flickr

Flickr is a very popular photo hosting service. It has both free and pay accounts. The free accounts allow you to post up to 100mb of photos per month. A pro account is available for $24.95 per year and allows you unlimited uploads and also allows you to host video. Flickr allows you to mark your images with keywords that allow others with similar interests to find your images. You can also order prints from Flickr

Flickr has several ways to upload images including a application for both Mac and PC users. A nice feature of Flickr is that you can upload any size image and it can be resized to fit in the OGR forum automatically.

For information about Flickr please see their FAQ. Photos can be uploaded via a web upload or by using their software.

Posting to the OGR Forum

I am going to make the assumption that you have already uploaded your photos to Flickr, using the web upload or Flickr Uploader software, and are trying to post them to OGR.

Starting from your Flickr album page select the image you want to share

flickr1

Select the "All Sizes" button below the title bar

flickr2

You now have the option of choosing several sizes of images, for the OGR forum chose the size that is 500 pixels on the long side.

The page will update to the resized version.

Near the bottom of the page you will see this text, while Flickr suggests you use Option 1, you need to use the text in Option 2 for the OGR forum.

At this point you can head over to the forum and post. Or if you want to add several images to a posting you may want to paste these addresses into a text file so you do not have to jump back and forth between sites.

Once you find (or start) a thread were you want to add an photo click on the "Reply" button and look at the toolbar in the window that opened. The second button from the right (Green button) is the image button , click on it.

post 1

The image URL window will appear below the button.

Flickr 6

Paste the URL for your photo into the window and click OK.

You should get some text that looks like this in the reply window. You can also add text to the reply, but do not add anything other text between the [IMG] [/IMG] tags.

You can add multiple photos to a posting by repeating the above steps. Just make sure to move the cursor below the text before you begin. I like to do two returns after the [/IMG] tag.

When you are done click on the "Post Now" button

If you did everything correctly you will see your image. If not check the above steps again. You may want to go back to get the URL for your images and try pasting it in again

Congratulations you are done!
